Introduction: Minimally Invasive Surgery has become an integral part of operative management in virtually every realm of newborn and pediatric surgery in the last two decades. Although new instruments and equipment are promoting these achievements, there is still a long journey in training before Neonatal Endoscopic Surgery become safe and widespread. The UAE Pediatric Surgery Society, Gulf Pediatric Endoscopic Uro-Surgery Group and Asian Association of Pediatric Surgeons in collaboration with Sharjah Surgical Institute (SSI) is dedicated to the advancement of training in Pediatric Minimally Invasive Surgery to ensure the safe performance of such operations.

Course Outcome:
Course will provide theoretical updates on the most recent development of neonatal endoscopy and intensive experimental session (Hands-on session) using small animals for each surgical procedure step by step. Some of the topics are:

  • Ergonomics and installation
  • Introduction and positioning of trocars
  • Creation of a working space in the abdomen and the chest
  • Instruments and energy devices
  • Dissection, suturing and knotting simple, sliding knot and continuous and back –hand stitch
